The ERC-4337 standard introduces the "UserOperation" object for smart wallets on Ethereum. Initiating a UserOperation sends a "higher-layer pseudo-transaction object" to a dedicated mempool for ERC-4337 transactions. ERC-4337 offers increased flexibility, allowing users to bundle multiple transactions within a UserOperation and delegate transaction fee payment to an Externally Owned Account (EOA).
Users create a UserOperation to express their transaction intent, akin to unconfirmed transactions.
UserOperations are bundled in a specific mempool for ERC-4337, managed by Bundlers (validators).
Bundled transactions are sent to the EntryPoint contract, a standardized code reference on the blockchain.
The EntryPoint invokes the validateUserOp function to identify the UserOperation linked to the contract wallet, requiring the smart contract wallet to implement the ExecuteUserOp function for transaction completion.
